As part of the Bickley Harvest Festival, visit the open studio of local mixed media artist and art educator Karin Hotchkin, set within a beautifully renovated old mushroom farm in Bickley. Karin holds a Visual Arts Degree and a Masters in Secondary Art Education, and her work celebrates joy, imagination, and connection to the natural world. Her playful yet considered pieces span whimsical naïve landscapes, botanical patterns, and bold expressive abstracts, all with a focus on colour, pattern, and composition. Deeply inspired by the beauty of the Perth Hills, Karin’s art reflects her relationship with the local environment – land, animals, plants, houses, and natural forms. Works are created on canvas, paper, wood, silk, and recycled materials using acrylics, oils, inks, collage and more. Karin also enjoys sculpture, crafting 3D forms from natural and repurposed materials. Come explore her joyful studio during the festival and experience a celebration of creativity rooted in the heart of Bickley. |
